Celebrating The Daniel Gates Adventures paperback release!

Celebrating the publication of my occult horror novella series The Daniel Gates Adventures in paperback by baking a batch of banana and chocolate mini muffins (with a fresh pot of coffee as standard).

Previously available in ebook or very limited hardcover only, this paperback release means all of my books are now in print!

I hope you’ll pick up a copy and let me know what you think of the stories.

Contained within the pages of this handsome paperback are four novellas: The Lucifer Glass, The Leper Window, The Lilyth Mirror, The Lucifer Gate, which take Daniel (and you the reader) on a hellish journey from the lochs of Scotland to the ancient castles and churches of Wales, from the occult secrets of Turin and maybe even into the depths of Hell itself. Bring coffee! And a muffin!

Content warning: Green-eyed demons, timey wimey weirdness, cursed grimoires, alcohol induced hallucinations, and (sp)lashings of blood n’ gore.

My thanks to the awesome two Davids at Crossroad Press/Macabre Ink for putting together another lovely book!

#HappyHalloween … Your DAMNATION awaits!

My seventh novel Damnation: The Gothic Game, based on the exciting new horror board game from Blackletter Games, is OUT NOW in ebook & paperback.

DAMNATION: The Gothic Game … OUT NOW!

https://mybook.to/damnation

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Carpathian Mountains, 1897.

An impassable storm forces a group of travellers to disembark from their steam train and take shelter in a remote castle for the night. Their enigmatic host invites them to take part in some after-dinner entertainment. But as they each explore the castle’s rooms and passageways, they discover they have become part of a deadly game. Only one guest may leave in the morning and it is up to each of them to use their wits, and weapons, to survive the night.

For the others, Damnation awaits.

Who will survive the night?

I’ve always wanted to write a Dracula story, especially one with a unique twist, so this book is a nightmare come true for me.

I’m super excited to share this book with you and I hope that it gives you chills and thrills in equal measure.

Drop a rating / review at Amazon / Goodreads and let me know what you think of it.

Spooky Samhain Blessings & Happy Halloween!

ABOUT THE GAME

Damnation: The Gothic Game is a brilliant new version of my all-time favourite board game. The original Gothic Game was created by ‘Blood on Satan’s Claw’ screenwriter Robert Wynne Simmons and Nigel Andrews, and became a horror fan favourite when it was released back in the 1990s.

My own experience with The Gothic Game began when I was working at The London Dungeon (where my Saturday job was scaring the life out of tourists!). The Marketing Manager popped down and said they had this preview copy of this creepy new game. He asked me to take it home and play it, and tell him if I thought it would be a good addition to the gift shop. The concept of the game took competitive play to dastardly new levels with the aim being to kill all the other players on the board. Terry Jones of Monty Python fame said, “This game will make you turn in your grave!” And of course it did! For me, it was love at first bite and I played it every Halloween after that fateful night.

Damnation, the updated version from Kris Rees & his talented team at Blackletter Gamesexpands beautifully on the original with a cast of cunning characters, tons of new traps, weapons, and artefacts, and also the added attraction of being able to haunt the other players from the graveyard if you get bumped off!

The game was a smash hit success on Kickstarter, fully funded in just 20mins & raising over £77k!

Will YOU survive the night?

Out now: Horror Literature From Gothic to Post-Modern – Critical Essays

Way back when, at the Horror Writers Association‘s now-annual event Stokercon, I presented a paper-in-progress on Koji Suzuki‘s seminal J-horror novel Ringu at the Ann Radcliffe Academic Conference.

After the event, Annradcon organisers Michele Brittany and Nicholas Diak kindly invited me to submit my research as a Chapter for their forthcoming book, which is out now from McFarland with a foreword by former HWA President Lisa Morton and an afterword by Becky Spratford.

Horror Literature From Gothic to Post-Modern – Critical Essays, covers a wealth of topics, from children’s literature to Aboriginal tales, and is a must-read for any horror scholar. My chapter covers Ringu, and its many sequels and adaptations, from a world literary perspective.

As with all academic texts Horror Literature… is pricey it’s true, but there is a Kindle version available for e-readers, which halves the cost.

You can discover other purchasing options at Goodreads.

Congratulations to editors Michele & Nick on birthing this beautiful beast of a book – the first academic textbook from the HWA. And may many more follow!

Oh, and a word of warning from The Ring: “Before you die you see the ring.”

A nightmare made real.
On Christmas Eve, six year-old Tom McRae witnessed an unspeakable atrocity that left him orphaned, his childhood in tatters. Now in his mid-thirties, Tom still has terrifying nightmares of that night. When Tom is sent to the remote Scottish village of Douglass to negotiate a land grab for his employer, it seems like a golden opportunity for him to start over. But Tom can’t help feeling he’s been to Douglass before, and the terrible dreams from his childhood have begun to spill over into his waking life. As murderous events unfold and Tom’s feverish nightmares escalate, he will discover the hideous truth behind the villagers’ strange pagan ritual of The Jack in the Green.

Praise for ‘The Jack in the Green’

“I have enjoyed all of Frazer Lee’s work, but The Jack in the Green is by far my favorite! Lee strikes the perfect balance between psychological horror…and vicious violence and gore.” (Rating: 5 out of 5 stars, The Horror Bookshelf)

“An intriguing tale filled with genuine horror and a plot that explores some very dark territory” (Horror Novel Reviews)

Quintessential British horror with vivid interludes of bodily trauma and mental anguish” (Keri O’Shea, Brutal As Hell)

A romp of a book that combines pagan mythology with visceral contemporary action” (MikaReadsHorrorFiction)

“A captivating read that weaves a spell, leading you into the Scottish countryside to a village that isn’t all that it seems. The shocking ending makes this one of the most satisfying reads of the year. Frazer Lee scores again, big time.”
(Rating: 5/5, Hunter Shea, author of Forest of Shadows and Evil Eternal)

The Lamplighters: “A trembling nationwide!” フレイザー・リー 断頭島 ギロチンアイランド

Today marks the publication of The Lamplighters in a Japanese translation from Takeshobo Publishing, Tokyo.

The alternate Japanese title is the rather subtle and elegant Decapitation Island, which I admit is kind of growing on me!

Here’s what the cover looks like:

lamplighters_japan_frazer_lee

My Japanese reading skills are non-existent, so I ran Takeshobo’s book description through an online translator.

This is my favourite part:

“A horror horror that is rolling in an isolated island separated from the outside world, a trembling nationwide!”

The Lamplighters (or Decapitation Island!) is available now from Amazon.co.jp and all good horror horror stockists.
