Faustian updates

Thrilled to confirm that on the 13th of June (the 13th being an auspicious date for any horror writer) I signed the contract with Flame Tree Press for my new novel GREYFRIARS REFORMATORY. I started writing the book while I was travelling on business in China, and it looks likely to be released in 2020. More updates to follow!

Meantime, get ready for HEARTHSTONE COTTAGE, published by Flame Tree Press this October. The very first reviews are in, which you can read in full over at Goodreads, and here are a few highlights:

“A chilling, atmospheric tale that creeps up on you like fog off a loch. Highly recommended.” (Jon Recluse)

“HEARTHSTONE COTTAGE is a nonstop riveting read and the suspense never slackens. Prepare to lose sleep.”
(Fungi From Yuggoth)

“Well written and great suspense.”
(Heather Bennett)

“I really enjoyed this book and the unique storyline.”
(Rachel Drenning)

My thanks to all the reviewers!

I’m also excited to announce that I have signed with Crossroad Press to republish my out-of-print horror novels THE LAMPLIGHTERS (Bram Stoker Award® Finalist for Best First Novel), THE JACK IN THE GREEN and THE SKINTAKER. It feels good to be getting these evil offspring back into print! Crossroad Press did such a wonderful job publishing my DANIEL GATES ADVENTURES series of occult horror novellas.

Brutal As Hell reviews ‘The Skintaker’

What horror author Frazer Lee has done with his newest novel The Skintaker is to take that fear and play with its setting and its time-frame; going back to the early twentieth century, and into the Amazon rainforest with his new book’s host of characters…

Brutal As Hell reviewer Keri O’Shea discusses my latest novel The Skintaker, over here.

Thanks to Keri & Brutal As Hell for the support!

#TheSkintaker #Giveaway – and the winners are…

Skintaker-PBsml

Today is launch day for my fourth novel THE SKINTAKER, out now in ebook and paperback from Samhain Publishing.

As I always do on launch day I took some time out this morning to donate a copy of the new book to my local library. I’m lucky to have the place that inspired Roald Dahl when he wrote ‘Matilda‘ as my local book haven. And I feel honoured to have my books shelved there. I’m delighted to hear that two of my other books The Lamplighters and The Jack in the Green are out on loan!

Now, i’m also lucky that the post office is opposite the library, which made it easy for me to mail a signed copy out to the winner of my Goodreads Giveaway, who is (drum roll please…)

Amber L. of California, USA

Congrats Amber! I wish you good reads, and I sincerely hope the book gives you shivers.

A quick haircut and one cup of coffee later –
(well, it is launch day so an author can treat himself, right?)
– and it’s time to announce the 5 winners of my Skintaker ebook giveaway.

They are (another drum roll please…)

New book, new title!

Samhain HorrorMy new novel THE SKINTAKERS is no more!

Instead, THE SKINTAKER will be released on April 7th, 2015.

So why the title change?

Well, I can’t actually go into specifics because *spoilers* but…

The decision came after a suggestion from my editor extraordinaire, Don D’Auria at Samhain Horror. (We’re hard at work on final edits for the novel.) The plural ‘Skintakers’ did make sense (but could have been distracting to the reader) whereas ‘The Skintaker’ singular makes much more sense (and is not distracting to the reader).

Titles are so important, perhaps the most important words you’ll write as a novelist. So I’m very happy with the change (especially as it leads directly to the title of the third book in the trilogy that started with The Lamplighters). And this, dear f(r)iends is just one of the many reasons why every writer needs an editor as awesome as Don, and a publisher as awesome as Samhain.

I hope you’ll join us for a trip into hot hell next April.

The Skintaker has some secrets he’d like to share with you…

Cheers,
Frazer
